Andy is a software engineer turned financial planner.

After planning their own career break in the face of burnout at a tech startup and witnessing the change it brought about in their own life, subsequently living nomadically out of a van for over 4 years, Andy became a financial planner with the intention of helping others take career breaks of their own and live their best lives.

While they love to geek out over numbers and tech—including side-projects still in stealth mode—they derive some of their greatest satisfaction from helping others live their best lives.

They love to constantly learn new things, spend time outside in wide-open spaces under the stars, travel, interact with art, dance with fire, and wiggle to live music.

Andy has been featured in USA Today, MSN, U.S. News & World Report, Wealthtender, Wealth of Geeks, Wealth Management, and the Sabbatical Project, and has been recognized as an authority by peers in the financial services industry on the topics of career breaks and equity compensation.

Andy passed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam and launched Ad Astra Financial Planning in early 2023 and serves clients in the SF Bay Area and around the country.
