Danny started life (at least the career portion of it) as an electrical engineer in communications for a power cooperative. But, he has always been fascinated with finance and economics.
Danny graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology (then called University of Missouri – Rolla) with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and a minor in economics.
He later earned a master’s degree in telecommunications engineering from Southern Methodist University and the Professional Engineer designation while working at the power cooperative in his Missouri hometown. He and his family later moved to Texas.
Danny became interested in financial planning as a career after talking with an Edward Jones advisor. While researching and learning about it, he became aware of a better way to be a financial planner. The independent way. That ultimately led to Core Planning.
Danny has made good money decisions and bad ones (both with multiple 0’s) and his mission is to help others make more of the former and avoid the later. He desires to help people understand how to use money as a tool that allows them to reach their various goals.
He is especially interested in helping people manage their money in a way that lets them better serve their faith, their family, and their community. Even if that means going against convention and not contributing to a 401(k) for a while to have more cash for better family experiences. There’s a “personal” in Personal Finance for a reason.
Danny enjoys traveling, gaming, and trying out new hobbies, such as carpentry, violin, and photography. He lives on a couple of quiet acres in Central Texas with his wife, Vanessa, and their two sons and two daughters. He loves educating his kids on the humor of puns and dad jokes and seeing how big of an eye roll he can get from his wife.
