Korinne Sugasawara, AFC®
Life doesn’t follow a straight path, and neither will your financial journey. Let’s create a plan to keep you confidently moving forward.
How I Can Help
Money can feel overwhelming, especially when you're making big decisions or carving out a new life path. I’ll help you cut through the noise, gain clarity on your goals, and create a plan that aligns with your values and aspirations—not just what you’ve heard you "should" do. I specialize in supporting:
Life Transitions – Navigate career changes, small business launches, divorce, caregiving, and (early) retirement with confidence.
Members of Resilient Communities – Get affirming, judgment-free financial guidance tailored to LGBTQIA2S+, neurospicy, disabled, kinky, and/or poly individuals.
First-Generation Wealth Builders – Balance family obligations, navigate new financial territory, and build long-term wealth.
CalPERS and CalSTRS Members Approaching Retirement – Understand how your pension and any complementary retirement plans (403b, 457, 401k, Savings Plus, Pension2, etc.) fit into your overall financial picture and support your future.
Services Offered
I am a fee-only financial planner with no investment minimums. Investment management is an optional add-on. In other words, you don't have to be a millionaire to work with me, and fellow DIYers are welcome.
Most clients start with a one-time comprehensive financial plan for a fixed fee, starting at $4,500. Over the next few months, we’ll review and align your finances with your life goals and develop actionable next steps. Afterward, you may choose ongoing support and accountability, allowing us to adapt together through life changes.
If comprehensive financial planning isn’t what you need right now, but you still have questions that keep you up at night, I offer hourly consulting for $325/hour.
About Me
The first time I met with a financial advisor, I was a young educator curious about saving for retirement—but I was turned away for not having enough money. Determined to learn, I read every personal finance book and blog I could find, testing their advice through trial and error. At the same time, I saw in the classroom how systemic issues impacted my students and their families' financial stability. A desire to make a difference led to a career change into public policy.
Throughout my public service career, I shared my growing knowledge of personal finance—specializing in pension legislation for the California State Senate, demystifying employee benefits for colleagues, and helping friends navigate life decisions with big financial implications. A conversation with a financial planner inspired me to turn my passion into a profession.
Now, as an Accredited Financial Counselor® and a Candidate for CFP® certification, I help clients nationwide from my home base in the San Francisco Bay Area, offering guidance that blends empathy, lived experience, and a commitment to aligning your finances with life goals.
